Introduction: Our Responsibility

Life is a series of different events for different people. We as humans are constantly experiencing the roller-coaster of life as we go through inevitable ups and downs. I believe that tragedy is also a part of nature and will happen according to the way we live our lives—or not. We experience personal tragedy, yet also watch the world experience trials that our hearts grab onto with empathy. The real question is, what is our responsibility in the face of human tragedy? One person may hit rock bottom and climb their way out again and again, becoming rather stronger for themselves. But what do we do for those we can’t necessarily aide? Because of our un-super-hero-like power as humans, the least we can do is be there for the ones we can reach. There are those who understand pain as if it’s “meant to be” for reasons that come from higher power. And then there are others who don’t understand why it must happen and perhaps their hearts break a little bit weaker. When we see this pain and discouragement within our fellow race, we wish with all of our being to be able to lift one another up to the highest of our capability. We read articles from dear writers about national events in newspapers or magazines. We say prayers as groups and to ourselves for the well-being we wish to see. We fight for happy-endings every single day we live. Whether it’s responsibility we’re owing to ourselves or the responsibility our talents, big and small, owe to the world. Sometimes we sit around and wait for someone else stronger to fix us until we can find the inner strength to help others. In the face of human tragedy, we can aide in the reconciling, reconstructing, and emotional rehabilitation for everyone to the best of our abilities.
